I Love survival games, I really enjoy games like Vantage Primitive Survival. If you enjoy games similar to Vantage Primitive Survival, then check out the following page. I list all the gameplay elements of Vantage Primitive Survival and at the bottom of the page is a list of survival games with similar gameplay elements.
This game is fully released. I have Tried to play it, the information below is per my experience, the developer/steam page or whatever else is available.
Vantage Primitive Survival released on 02/02/2021 and doesn’t appear to have had any updates in a year or so.
The Developer created their own engine called, Vantedit
Vantage Primitive Survival was developed by a single person, Crystal Dragon.
I do not know the extent of survival elements, Food and Hunger for sure, I went to what appeared to be a snow area, (possible just rocks?) and I did not see any indications I was cold. There could be more elements then I am aware of.
You can build “housing” from items in a list, they appear to be completed in stages. Your “village” can be laid out in any manner you want, but the buildings themselves don’t appear to have any customization.
You will be crafting everything in the game.
There is no looting, only resource gathering.
This is a primitive world, so your main enemies are going to be animals. No Zombies here.
There is a very detailed leveling system.
This primitive world does not feature any taming, mounts, or vehicles.
It is unknown if the weather has any impact on game-play.
The game has multiplayer and single player.
The game has customizable controls including invert mouse.
The map is procedurally generated.
Less than 1, and I will not add any more.
Very Difficult
Vantage Primitive Survival, has me torn. The creator has made an extremely deep and difficult survival game. Just what we are all looking for. There are however problems that I just can’t get past. For one the graphics are terrible, and for me this is a major problem. The graphical style of a game needs to allow for immersion and this one breaks my immersion all over the place. The second major problem for me is the menu system. I don’t feel like I am playing a survival game, it feels like I am playing a menu simulator game. For example want to throw a spear, 1. switch the weapon to left hand 2. Right click, scroll down to throw. 3. Throw – okay clumsy but maybe doable. now to pickup the spear to throw it again. 1. Click on the screen to get a cursor 2. Click on the spear 3. Open spear menu and equip 4. Go to inventory menu, find spear, right click, scroll down to Throw. Now you are ready to throw your spear again. This is just an insane number of steps to throw one spear. Everything is like this, it has a punishing learning curve, I Highly encourage anyone considering the game to watch the tutorials on YouTube so you can understand how the game works and plays. I really hope the developer creates a “second” version using a well developed engine like Unity or Unreal, I think the choice to develop their own engine was not a good one. I really applaud the effort, but for me the game is a massive fail on execution. There are some people who will get a lot of value out of this one, but I think they will be few and far between.
Some examples of what you can do in the game:
– Craft a large number of objects to help you survive. Everything from sharp stones, to campfires so you don’t freeze at night, to primitive huts to live in!
Realistic and complex crafting system – Vantage has a in-depth, well researched crafting system using the actual items you need to craft items in the real world.
Hardcore survival / player customization – Make sure you forage for that food or grow some crops, for when you die, your character is gone!
Skill-based character progression with many professions – You can try to specialize in one of the many professions, or try to master them all!
Skill-based character progression with many professions – You can try to specialize in one of the many professions, or try to master them all! Some examples are hunting, fishing, leatherworking and farming.
Interact with every item in the world – No more playing a game where trees and rocks are just fancy artwork! You can harvest wood from every tree, and pick up every rock you see!
Custom game engine with a massive seamless world – The game uses a custom 3D game engine I created called VantEdit. It generates and renders massively sized worlds of any size I choose, and you get to explore them. Walk in a single direction and you will circumnavigate the globe with no loading screens.
