Full Release Title
Subnautica was released on 01/23/2018, It has not received much in the way of updates.
Game Engine
Survival Elements
You need to manage food, water, and O2 After the first few minutes of gameplay, food and water will not be a problem. O2 will be your main nemesis.
Base Building
Very very cool, beautiful, underwater base building.
Crafting
You crash landed on an alien planet, You pretty much have to make everything.
Looting
There is some looting but not much, you will be scanning and gathering materials to craft everything you need.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
There isn’t combat so much as self defense.
Characters and Leveling
There is no character creation, or selection and no character leveling skill trees or anything like that.
Creature Taming and Mounts
There are no mounts, there is a “pet” system, I’m not sure there is another way to describe it. It is pretty cool but the pets have no functions to help the character.
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
I’m not going to tell you there is no weather underwater. The deeper underwater you go the more pressure, which increases O2 useage.
Game Modes
Survival, Freedom, Hardcore and Creative mode.
Map
Subnautica uses a handcrafted map.
Over Gameplay Difficulty
The game is not overly difficult, it is probably one of the most chill survival experiences you can have.
