Survival Elements
Arid takes place in ..SURPRISE a desert type environment. Being in the desert your main adversary is the sun, and heat but there is another creature to watch out for.
Food – You will need to eat to stay alive.
Water – You will need to drink, and this will be one of the main obstacles to overcome in this game.
Heat – Again heat will be the main temperature obstacle to overcome.
Cold is not a problem in this desert style game.
Diseases – Sunburn is the main item that falls into this category.
When you ignore the sun and your food and water it is very easy to die in this game.
Base Building
Arid doesn’t have any base building options. This is to say it doesn’t have any customizable building pieces. Arid does however have locations you will need to secure and will use for a base and to store items.
Crafting
Arid has many items to craft, requiring you to gather items from around the map. This play is fairly standard but it is all put together very well.
Looting
Arid has very recognizable looting from barrels and crates to items being left on benches and tables.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
Arid does not have combat. Do not take this to mean you won’t struggle to survive, you will. There is more to combat than what I can explain, Mostly because I want to keep this spoiler free. Arid also has a surprise that falls into this category. For those that prefer noncombat survival or zombieless survival games give this one a try.
Characters and Leveling
Arid is first person only and does not have character creation, skill or leveling. This does not take away from the game.
Creature Taming and Mounts
Arid does not have creature taming, mounts or pets.
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
Arid’s weather is a major factor in gameplay. The sun is absolutely brutal and will decide your every action. There are also sandstorms because you know the only thing worse than 8000 degrees is, 8000 degrees and your clothes full of beach sand.

Over Gameplay Difficulty
Arid is a medium difficulty game. It might take a couple try’s to understand how to survive but Its fun and most will not have difficulty completing it. The thing is its free so there is no reason not to try.
Game Summary
Arid is a survival game that takes place in a desert world. Players must scavenge for resources, use shelters and craft items to survive the harsh environment. The game features intense heat and desert survival mechanics with no combat. It also has several puzzles to solve and secrets to uncover as players explore the wasteland of open world map. Arid offers plenty of challenge for gamers looking for a unique experience in their next adventure game.
The graphics are beautiful. Every location looks gorgeous onscreen thanks to high quality textures rendered by Unreal Engine 4 technology used in this title.. Gameplay itself is quite varied between exploration segments where you search around abandoned encampments or old ruins while gathering supplies needed for your own survival, you will need to craft traps to catch food and keep a close eye on your water at all times. – all while avoiding deadly monsters lurking nearby!
Overall I think Arid does an great job at creating a unique gaming experience that combines elements from survival games like Stranded Deep and Starsand. What really makes it stand out among other games within its genre is that it was created by college students and is completely free on Steam. There really isn’t any reason to play it if you are at all into survival games.
