Game Engine
Survival Elements
Food and Water, You will need to eat and drink, when these meters go empty you will take damage and die very quickly. There is also a medical system with bleed and broken bones, as you would expect these need to be addressed in different ways. I did not experience any temperature elements. There is poison and radiation to contend with as well.
Base Building
Base building is different, Right now you can build a base but there is no actual building pieces. You can build and place lots of items, but would want to do so inside a fence, which you can build with a large gate. I suspect most people will overtake a present building and wall it off.
Crafting
There are quiet a bit of things to craft. You will need them for survival and convenience.
Looting
The majority of looting comes in the form of “containers” with some harvesting of wood and stone.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
SurrounDead features Zombie and Enemy Ai, One spoiler here the zombies will chase the wildlife, it’s pretty cool.
Characters and Leveling
You start with a premade character, that appears to be randomly generated with no customization options. Once you put clothes on them I don’t really see that it makes a difference because your clothes really establish how you character looks. There is also skill based leveling, I had not made a skill level up in 8 hours or so but I was very close in medical lol. There is also character leveling which allows you to put points into various skills.
Creature Taming and Mounts
There is no taming but there are several vehicle types.
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
Currently weather only seems to impact your visibility. There are various weather effects and some are really good.

SurrounDead current doesn’t have any modes
Map
SurrounDead uses a handcrafted map.
Over Gameplay Difficulty
Surrounded is a little tougher than some. When you die you have to do a loot run, There are sliders at the start of the game that allow you to customize everything. I used the default for standard mode. There is also Peace, Hardend, and Nightmare.
Game Summary
“SurrounDead” is a PC game that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. The game is a top-down shooter that challenges players to survive as long as possible while being surrounded by hordes of undead. Overall, “SurrounDead” is an intense and thrilling game that offers a challenging and rewarding zombie survival experience.
Game Features: Per the Developer
- Travel through a desolate post apocalyptic landscape.
- Fight zombies and possibly worse.
- Find many different firearms, melee weapons and equipment.
- Trade with survivors in trader hideouts or safe zones to get that one piece of equipment you need.
- Barricade buildings or find your self somewhere in the wilderness to escape to.
- Loot varied locations to improve yourself, but be aware of your surroundings.
- Weather and day/night cycles, be careful.
- Manage your stats to stay alive.
