It appears the game was developed on an in house engine. Normally a quick look at the game files will tell me Unreal or Unity, this does neither a search yielded no results.

Society Survival Elements
You will need to manage your survivors, down to each member of your community, for food and water, clothes, weapons, and jobs that they can or need to perform.
Base Building
This society survival game is one of the few that does not have pre-designed plop down buildings. You will need to design your buildings for your survivors to build, live and work in. You will be placing everything, more like a traditional survival game right down to the campfire and chairs.
Crafting
Your survivors will be crafting their little arms off. They need to make every they need, clothes, weapons, food, buildings, furniture, and all the clothes and weapons not only wear out but are not fit for all seasons.
Looting
The looting in Stranded Alien Dawn, comes in the form of scavenging wrecks, this could yield you a weapon or rations, however almost everything else including those same wrecks will also need to be gathered for materials.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
/Looksbothways. ALIENS? yep you guessed it. The good news here is the aliens do not fall under the zombie spectrum, instead they are forms of bugs and animals. This my travelers, is a zombie free experience. You will also have to defend your base against attacks from outside sources.
Governance
You will not have to assign any laws or manage your people with a bunch of rules, However there is a “governance” system in that you will have to keep your people happy, this requires work on your part to meet their needs with certain things that are different per survivor. You will also need to assign each survivor a jobs list, and work/play schedule.
Land Management
Most land management comes in the form of your crops and plantings. It could also effect animals, but after 26 hours I have yet to collect any livestock for myself, focusing on other aspects.
Characters and Leveling
Your characters are pre-made and have different skills, likes and dislikes. They will level up their skills if you allow them to use them.
Creature Taming and Mounts
There is creature taming in the game. There are many benefits to taming your neighborhood aliens including, food, happiness, and defense.
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
The weather has an impact on your game-play, one example is lightning can actually strike and kill your survivors.
Game Modes
Stranded Alien Dawn has several game modes, which are not typical and very hard to explain without writing an entire article on it. You have 5 difficulty settings, 4 scenarios, (crash landing,trading,military outpost,robots) 3 environment choices, Desert, Tropical, and “normal earth-ish” you also have 9 different choices on modes, like peaceful, or all survivors start with no skills.
Map
The maps are randomly generated maps, based on the biome you select.
Over Game-play Difficulty
Stranded Alien Dawn is not a difficult game to play, it is rather fun and a good second screen game, You can pause at any moment with the space bar. There is a learning curve for sure, and plan on spending a good amount of time in the beginning learning how to assign jobs with an overlap that works for your goals along with a schedule that works for all survivors.
Game Summary
Stranded Alien Dawn is a beautiful looking game that is fun to play, and provides a challenging experience. There are tons of hours to be had here if you like society survival games, be aware that this one is much more like a traditional survival game only with a top down view, than your pre-made buildings, large population survival games. You can Micromanage every aspect of every thing down to the hour, or you can your survivors be a little more free willed, using a less heavy handed approach.
