State of Decay 2 was released on 03/13/2020, It continues to receive regular updates.

State of Decay 2 appears to have been built on a custom in-house engine.

Survival Elements
The survival elements are very light, basically you have food and water, Otherwise I can’t really rank this as a survival game.
Base Building
The game does not have base building, It has a unique base system where you take over premade bases and those have different “slots” available to customize. For example one base might have slots for 8 beds and not much else, another base might have slots for 4 beds, a generator, and a kitchen. Overall you have very little control over the bases.
Crafting
Do you have to craft some items, But if you must have crafting this is probably not the game for you.
Looting
Almost everything you need or want will be looted.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
Awesome looking Zombies.
Characters and Leveling
The characters are all premade, with different abilities, these level up with use. It is a society survival game where you control multiple npcs, When one gets hurt you have to put them in a medical bay for treatment, or if you need a survivor that has specialized in a certain skill you might take them along for that mission.
Creature Taming and Mounts
The game features vehicles, and for some reason these things are super fun. Running over zombies causes damage that needs to be repaired, they also need fuel. It is hard to pass up a vehicle no matter what it is.

There are tons of modes and customization. From difficulty, maps, objectives, even how much aim you want help with.

The maps are all hand crafted, there are several.
Over Gameplay Difficulty
The game can be as easy or hard as you want with the difficulty settings. If you like to kill zombies, you simply need to buy this game. For zombie killing it is a blast. If you must have survival, well unfortunately this one doesn’t offer much in that department.
Game Summary
State of Decay 2 is a fantastic zombie killer, very light on survival. It has great graphics and plenty of customization. For those who are into zombie killing and have not played this game, don’t make me slap your momma.
