Game Engine
Survival Elements
Currently, in normal mode sons of the forest is not punishing in the survival mechanics.
Food, Drink, and Sleep need to be maintained, mostly to have enough energy to accomplish tasks.
Cold will reduce your total stamina, sleep, water, and food also reduce your total stamina. Food and Drink do not heal you. Depending on the mode, when they are empty you can take health damage.
Note: You can customize many aspects of your game to make it more difficult.
Base Building
Sons of the Forest, has two base building options, you can select a blueprint from your book or create a free form base where your imagination is your only limitation.
Crafting
Sons of the forest has a multitude of items to craft.
Looting
Looting comes from crates and containers. The best items in the game come from looting. There is also a lot of resource gathering (looking at you tree).
Combat, Main Enemy Types
Your main combat enemy types are going to be cannibals’ and mutants. This is a zombie free zone.
Characters and Leveling
Currently, this title is story based and there is only male characters, this probably won’t matter much as you play in first person and do not see your character.
Creature Taming and Mounts
There is not currently any taming or mounts, You do get friendly AI to help you gather materials and fight. That is as far as I will explain in an effort to remain spoiler free as possible. There is are several “vehicle” types.
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
Currently, Weather is suppose to impact gameplay. Sons of the Forest has seasons, Which should at least mean the cold will effect gameplay.

Over Gameplay Difficulty
Currently, Sons of the Forest is not overly difficult in the survival mechanics on “normal”. Hard survival will be more difficult as your food and drink become much more important to not loosing health.
Game Summary
