Game Engine
Serum is being developed on Unreal Engine 5

Serum is being developed by Game Island, which appears to be a small team.
Survival Elements
Currently I am up in the air about this one. The demo is very short only allowing about 45 minutes playtime. There is no eating or drinking in this game, but that function is essentially replaced with “serums”. These allow you to spend time in the world, they also allow you to use skills, such as a jump attack, or a heal. You definatly have to work to stay alive with the serum mechanic, as without it you die almost instantly, you have a limited number you can carry. 6 at the start.
Base Building
From what I can tell there is no base building, and currently, I cannot tell about base defense either. There are crafting stations in the crafting menu, so this indicates someplace there will be at least some kind of base locations, but again the demo is very limited.
Crafting
You will be crafting tools, weapons, and serum. along with crafting stations. Unknown at this time if clothes or “armor” will be needed.
Looting
all looting was in the form of raw materials, I did not find any directly useable items.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
Mutant animals, and people, that I can not categorize any other way then to say Zombies. Sorry folks.
Characters and Leveling
The game is in 1st person and there is no character creation, there is a perks and skills system, but I am unsure how it works.
Creature Taming and Mounts
These are unknown, but based on what I see currently, I don’t believe the game will feature these.
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
Again Unknown, there are areas of the map that have requirements to entry though.

Over Gameplay Difficulty
The game is not difficult, to control, or understand. It is challenging though, at least so far. I am very interested in continuing on past the demo.
