Developers Stated Features
Project Castaway is survival crafting title set in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. Hunt, gather, fell trees and embark on expeditions to traverse the ocean – discovering desert islands laden with unique resources.
Embark on the life of a true castaway – stranded on a deserted island, with just yourself for company. Scavenge or hunt for food, traverse from island to island and be carefully construct rafts & shelters for when the night comes – it can get awfully cold on these islands…
Being stranded has some upsides, at least. Explore beautiful Pacific landscapes. Swim through shimmering blue water to stand upon golden sands as waves crash against your feet. When the weather turns, take cover under palm trees as the rain pelts the ocean – and listen to the thunder crash overhead.
Use the natural materials surrounding you to construct a base – the key to your survival. Hunt animals, fell trees and scavenge ruined ships as you build your way to safety.
You best keep your wits about you – it can get lonely on these islands, and castaways have been known to lose their minds… Keep on top of your sanity and ensure that you’re sleeping well – lest unnatural apparitions appear before you, seeking to take your life.

1 thought on “Project Castaway”
I have found Project Castaway far too difficult, and needing to be mollified. Moreover, some important functions, well, hardly function. The two that come the most to mind are 1.) How difficult it is to get the things you need to build the things you need to build. Not enough barrels or tires to make a decent raft, for example, and those berries I found need to regrow so I can eat them at first (because I need to for mineral / vitamin diversity), and then plant them in a farm box later to grow a bigger supply. And 2.) Despite seeing it work in you tube playthroughs, I, personally, found it *Extremely* problematic to drop items or put meat on the campfire cooking stones. It takes *many* attempts (sometimes resulting in meat going bad while trying, when I brought it to the fire right after acquiring it), and / or my just-aided water and sleep meters needing attention (i.e. needing more water and sleep, *Again!*), despite having just satisfied them. Why? Because the item I was trying to either drop or place on a cooking stone kept teleporting back into my backpack. Again…and again…and Effing Again! … Honestly, folks! Arrrrrrrgh! … As the character, Ironbar, said to the character, Master, in the film Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome…after giving Master a little kiss on the cheek… “Fix. It!”
