Icarus
We Love Games Like Icarus
I Love survival games, I really enjoy games like Icarus. If you enjoy games similar to Icarus, then check out the following page. I list all the gameplay elements of Icarus and at the bottom of the page is a list of survival games with similar gameplay elements.
Full Release Title
Icarus was released on 12/03/2021 and has received weekly updates almost without fail.
Game Engine
Survival Elements
Icarus has many survival elements. You are constantly watching many things depending on your location. You can and will die in a never ending list of ways.
Food, yes you must eat
Water, yes you must drink, and from clean water sources
Heat, the world of Icarus requires managing the characters heat.
Cold, again you will need to manage cold
Diseases, there are many diseases in Icarus, None of them will kill you outright, but they can lead to your death from compounding circumstances.
Icarus takes place in a highly hostile environment, you will need to watch the weather, and manage your oxygen levels as well.
Ignore any of the above items and you WILL die.
Base Building
Icarus has a ton of base building options, with material levels, the game changes it up because the weather will actually destroy certain material types. I think this system is fantastic myself and would like to see most survival games utilize a variation of it.
Crafting
Icarus is a crafters dream. There are a never ending list of things to make to enhance your survival chances. You must choose carefully more so in the beginning because it takes levels and points to unlock everything.
Looting
The vast majority of loot will come from gathering resources and crafted by your character. There are no loot containers to be found in game, but you will also “loot” and gather materials from the locals.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
The wildlife and the weather are your main enemies in this game, It is a zombie-less experience, currently there are not any humanoid types at all.
Characters and Leveling
You will need to work hard to level your character. Every level gives you points to spend in skill trees, There are many many skills and one could not possibly master them all. There is also a solo skill tree which has its own points, separate from the main trees. Yet another set of points is required to unlock crafting. This might sound complicated but it is all done in a way that is very easy to understand.
Creature Taming and Mounts
Yes! There is taming and mounts
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
One major difference in Icarus is the weather actually effects gameplay. There are many levels of storms that can effect your character, Storms can set the woods and your base on fire, wind will damage certain material types as well.
Game Modes
Icarus does not have game modes, it is a server based game and you can adjust server settings to your likeing.
Maps
Icarus has two maps with a 3rd one in the works.

Over Gameplay Difficulty and Other Notable Items
Icarus isn’t super hard, you and will die a lot, but you can handle most survival mechanics without a ton of trouble as long as you don’t loose track of them.
One major thing to note, this game features many different game modes, there is creative where you can build with no animals, then there is a persistent world mode where you can build your base and do certain jobs for the people in charge. The last mode is what the game was really designed for and that is time sensitive jobs. You are given X number of hours, days, weeks, to complete a job. You are dropped in by dropship and if you don’t complete the job in the time allowed you will not get credit, you could also be left behind as the ship will leave without. You can however return to the dropship and leave the mission whenever you want. These missions give “money” to buy other items to take on the next mission, giving you a head start. They also unlock certain crafting recipes and you can use the same character to go between missions and your home-world base.

Nice review. The third map DLC is out.
Thanks, I try to stay away from a “review” as much as possible, I prefer to just put as many game play elements as I can. Everyone looks for something different in a game but they still want to know what the game play elements are. I need to update with the 3rd map, they are going to add more to that map as well.
