EARLY ACCESS TITLE
This game is in early access. I have played it for around 200 hours so far, the information below is per the developer/steam page or whatever else is available.
Note: This game is under heavy active development with updates occurring frequently.
Game Engine
Atlas is being created on Unreal Engine 4
Developer
The game is being developed by a team, not a single developer, it appears the team used to be part of Ark Survival Evolved.
Survival Elements
Atlas has many survival elements, they include eating and drinking, hot, cold, and various illnesses.
Base Building
Atlas has great base building with multiple material types, along with custom ship building, which you can make your base away from home.
Crafting
Crafting? There are few games around with this much crafting, not only can you make everything in the game, you can find blueprints with varying quality and make different quality of the same item.
Looting
You are a pirate. Do I really need to say more? Okay than yes looting and pillaging come in the form of what pirates will do.
Combat, Main Enemy Types
PVP, if you choose. Single player has animal based enemies and “human” AI npcs. There are no zombies in pirate land.
Characters and Leveling
There is a detailed character creation featuring male or female. Your character gains levels and skill as well as attribute points you will need to spend to improve your character.
Creature Taming and Mounts
Most everything can be tamed for your use, either for fighting, resources, riding, or a combination of all 3. Plus you will create ships for mounts as well.
Weather Impacts on Gameplay
The weather has significant impacts on gameplay including death.
Game Modes
This is a server based game so the settings can be tweaked to just about any mode you are looking to play.
Map
There are two maps, Atlas, Perhaps the largest map every created for a game, and Blackwood, a smaller map intended for single player use. Both maps can be used for single or multiplayer.
Over Gameplay Difficulty
Depending on server settings, the game is difficult. You can set things to reduce the time needed to accomplish things. (Time to tame for example). You will die a lot, it is very easy to loose everything many times until you start to get a handle on gameplay. I find the game to be very fun, and the weather technology fascinates me.
